We are thankful for a video on our camera to capture these precious moments!
Edited to add: I'm so sorry friends to report that Samuel did not get a jelly bean that night. He did go the entire day though without needing a new diaper! We're trying to figure out if he should get a special treat if that's the case. Any suggestions?

Improptu Hike and Prayers
Being a mother of two boys, you would think I would learn to just never try and dress at all fashionable because there is always the chance we might go do rough and tough things.
We were driving around a neighborhood of a house we were looking at* and found an amazing park. I got out to get a map of the trails and Samuel was begging to get out and play. Since it's been so cold lately, we haven't gone on many hikes, so I felt sorry for the kid and we went exploring. Good thing we keep the hiking backpack in the trunk for times like these.
We had a blast. I forget how much fun impromptu hikes can be. From now on, I should keep a pair of sneakers in the car too.
Samuel off and running...
I'm ill prepared...
But (of course) had my camera.
The 3 amigos.
*For those of you who we don't keep in close touch with, when we moved to Charlottesville in June we decided to rent a house so we could get our bearings on the area and see where Andy got a job before we decided to truly settle down and buy. So, we are in the process of looking at homes in hopes that we can buy something before our lease runs out at the end of June.
If you think about it, please be praying for us as we charter this very unfamiliar territory that is buying a home. We've got to weigh a lot of factors and we need God's wisdom through it all.

Thankful Thursday
Things we are thankful for this week:
Samuel turned 2 1/2 on Saturday and Gran Ran and Gigi were here to celebrate with him.
Daddy finally got some pictures of his boys for his desk at work.
We are making some progress on where we're going to move.
Andy and Samuel are doing a great job on Joseph's chair.
Mommy has been able to get some quilting in.
And for what you're all waiting for... pictures. I don't have many, but here are a few.
Samuel put his flag on his car like he saw on cars on tv on inauguration day!

Christmas in Maryland
We celebrated our last of our Christmas celebrations up in Maryland this past weekend with Andy's mom and step dad. It was a short, but great trip.
Here's Joe Joe playing with his new frog pull toy.
And here he is loving on his super soft new blanket!
And here the poor guy is being treated like a doll :)
And here's Samuel enjoying his new Mr. Potato head with Gran Rando! :)
While we were there, we went to a fire station that had a train display. It was wonderfully entertaining.
Joe was so mesmerized with the train set up.
For Christmas Samuel gave his grandparents a canvas so they could draw a masterpiece together. We're going to make it an annual tradition. I think if they had it their way, they would make it a monthly tradition :) They drew a firetruck. It was quite impressive.
The fire hats are still a hit around our house this week.
Well, the Christmas season is over, our tree is down and all the decorations are put away. It was a great several weeks. But, now we are tired and ready to relax for a bit. Next up, Daddy's birthday! Which is the 14th.
I asked Samuel what we should do for Daddy for his birthday, and he said "bake him a cake." I asked him what kind of cake, and he said, "an ice cream cake." So, if any of you know how to bake ice cream, Samuel would love to know. All I know is how to freeze an ice cream cake! Looks like I've got a lot to learn in the kitchen. :)

A Present In Progress
For Joseph's first birthday, Andy is making a chair. For Samuel's first birthday Andy made him a rocking horse and had quite a difficult time with it because he didn't have any of the proper tools. Thanks to our parents, he got just what he needed for Christmas to make the chair go much smoother than the rocking horse did.
Here they all are working on it.
I can't wait to see the finished product. Not sure what it will end up looking like, but I do know they will all enjoy working on it together.
