Scrapbuster Banner

I'm getting a little nervous... the fabric for Joseph's birthday presents has not come in yet. This is going to be one mad dash to the finish line I can see it a mile away.

So, for now, I am going to try and work on some other ideas I had for his birthday while I wait. I've had this banner idea on my list for months and one of my favorite craft bloggers just posted her version of it. Vanessa does a great job of really using up her scraps in this project. Which is perfect for me, because I've sure got a lot of scraps.

...and seemingly a lot of time while I wait for the fabric to come.

Birthday Preperations

I just bought some fabric for Joseph's birthday present. It's perfect! I am making him a kitchen set of a chef's hat, oven mitts and an apron. He loves his kitchen set, dressing up, Veggie Tales and wearing my oven mitts. Hopefully it comes soon so I can get started. I only have 11 more days. Yikes!

Sidenote: I also realized I never posted all of the fun crafts I did for gifts for Christmas. I need to pass on some of those because most of them were so quick but really special.

Past Samisms

Whenever the kids say something that I don't want to forget I'll write it down somewhere... anywhere... Well, we all know that being pregnant comes with the insane urge to clean EVERYTHING and ORGANIZE anything you possibly can.

This is an awesome side effect of pregnancy. I wish it never ended. But it does!

So, as you can imagine I've been organizing... And I came across a pile of Samisms that I have never officially documented on the blog. They are from quite possibly the last year, and some of these things he says now on a daily basis, but at the time, I never wanted to forget them because I had no idea how common they once might become.
Samuel looking at a a big blueberry... "Is that a daddy one mommy?"

Me asking Samuel if he would like to read... "Of course I do!!!"

On Oct 12, the day we found out we were pregnant, we shared with the boys the news and were talking to them about if they would like a brother or a sister. Samuel's response... "I want a boy AND a girl. I want to name it Elephant or Tiger. Tiger is a boy and elephant is a girl."

When Andy took me away for my birthday this past year his mom came and stayed with the boys for the night. When we got home Andy asked "So, Sam, did you do any wrestling with Gigi?" Samuel: "No Daddy, girls don't wrestle!"

Samuel patting me: "Mommy, you are a nice (or sometimes he says pretty) lady with your baby in your tummy!"
Oh, the joys of parenting. They are just constant entertainment.

Colorado Trip

We had such a super time in Colorado. The Lord definitely had his hands all over our trip, there and back. There were so many details that had to work out just right for everything to work as perfectly as it did. Our flights were all on time which to our knowledge was the biggest miracle!

There were too many cute pictures to narrow them down to just a few, so here they are...

*******

I was putting some things by the front door to bring as our carry-ons. The boys decided I didn't pack enough and started to add some of their toys to the pile!

On the shuttle to the airport....

The car caddies I made for the boys were the perfect airplane toys. So glad we had one with us.

Andy carrying the boys through the airport on our attempt to 'pack light.' It actually worked out great!

Me and all the children piled into our seats. It was not comfy, but we survived :)

We went to the Denver Zoo one day. Samuel insisted this was a farris wheel.

Here they are on the little train.

Joseph had what we think was altitude sickness. He was throwing up most of the day. But, he got a little bit if energy here and wanted to play in the covered wagon. Still smiling away.

One morning we went to a rec center nearby where they had a family pool. It was perfect for them. Most of the parts were really shallow and had beach entries with little water features all throughout and a lazy river. Just perfect for our little fish.

And the big reason why we went out when we did was Charlie and I had a surprise birthday party for my mom. Her birthday is March 2nd. Not gonna say how old she is, but she sure does look great for 'almost' being 'nifty.'

Here we are at the spa. Our reason to get her out of the house for several hours so they could get all ready for the party. Doesn't she look so gorgeous?!?

Here she is walking in the door... completely shocked! She still had her flip flops on from her pedicure. It was adorable.

The quilt I made her for her birthday halfway through the process. I guess I didn't get one once it was finished.

Adorable pillowcases a friend of my mom's made for the boys room. So glad I didn't have to make them. I'm not sure when they would have ever gotten done.

The birds my mom made for their mobile that will go in their room. Hopefully that will be up soon.

And this is just how awesome my mom is. She got this book for her birthday from the party and she knew how obsessed I was with it the second she opened it and she immediately gave it to me. I am on cloud nine. It's fabulous.

Am I bad for actually taking it from her?!?

So there you have it. Our first trip to Colorado since Joseph was born and our last trip there before Annabelle is born. Next trip mom said they are going to have to rent a van. I agree. We sure make quite a ruckus wherever we go! A good ruckus though :)

February - Crafts for Boys Month

I realize that February is half over, but I just couldn't let the whole month slip by without mentioning two crafters that are crafting their way through February making crafts just for boys.

Being a mom of 2 two boys and a lover of crafts, this just made me so excited. There are dozens upon dozens of cute ideas for girls, but so little for boys. These two women are sharing some awesome ideas. So if you love to craft and have some boys in your life head on over to their sites.

Go to Dana's site here and Rae's site here to see what they are up to!
