how then can they understand a God who hears..."

Names!!!
We're getting really close to nailing down some names, but we want to hear from you! Now is your chance to tell us what you think we should name our next baby!!!
Leave us your ideas of both girl and boys names that go with Samuel and Joseph in the comments section of this post. (We're mostly interested in girls names).
As Joseph would say 'redy...doe!' (ready, go!)
*If we choose your name, you just might get a prize :)

Kid's Play Kitchen
We are so in love with this kitchen set. It's pretty pricey, but compared to the other kitchen sets out there, it is a STEAL. It's very good quality and is not the typical pink and purple plastic kind like most other sets. So if you're looking for a kitchen set for your little ones, I would highly recommend this one!

Change Our Website Name?
TheEckertEscapades.blogspot.com is open and so is EckertEscapades.blogspot.com
Do any of you think I should change our url address?
Does it confuse you all that it's theeckerts.blogspot.com but the title of our blog is, The Eckert Escapades?
What is easier to remember? Let me know what you all think...

Packing Days 2-8
Things are going well. We have the entire storage room ready. That was Andy's task. He was almost done before he left and I finished up. Our back room doesn't have much stuff, but what it does have is almost done. I've been working on the kitchen all this week. It's taken a long time, but I'm at a point now where we will need everything for the next week that's left behind. I've done all our books, which was a huge task. I'm now working on the front closet and random end table drawers.
I can honestly say I am way ahead of where I thought I would be by today. Samuel's stuff still has not been touched, and it won't be until the very last minute, thanks to some tips from Jill. She just accomplished a big move from NC to NE with two small kids. Here are her tips. I thought you all could benefit from them!
Andy comes home tomorrow and we could not be more thrilled. We miss him terrible. Samuel I think wins the award though of missing him the most. That kid is lost without his Dada. We just could not be more thankful that he'll only have to be gone for these two weeks instead of the alternative, which would have been a year. God is so good!

Thanks Jill for all of that. I hope many other will benefit from these tips as well.1). Try not to show your own stress and possible anxiety about moving. The kiddos totally pick up on it. Kayla was so "chill" about the whole moving process. I think that was largely due to us not making a big deal out of it, not stressing (in front of her...I was totally freaking out!!), and telling her what to expect in NE: grandparents, zoo, parks, new friends...whatever. We even looked at pics of Lincoln online so she could see where we were heading. (I know you'll do this, but be honest with Samuel about what is happening and explain how things are going to go, always ending with something like, "and then, we'll live in Charlottesville together...and," you get the picture. Seems to help them know everything is going to be ok.)2). Make arrangements (if possible) for Samuel to be ANYWHERE except at your house the day you pack up the truck (Joseph is small enough that he won't care). The kids and I were already in NE for this last move, but when we moved for renovations last August, we went to the Aquarium in a hurry because Kayla was freaked out by strange people taking our stuff out the door into a truck. :-) I think it's just scary and confusing for them to see their "safe place" disappear.3). The moving "experts" always say to pack one box with all the important stuff and know where that box is at all times. We kind of had a variation of that. We had a clear Rubbermaid tub packed with the kids' bedding, favorites (books, toys, snacks), a few bath toys...whatever is both important to them and helps you out. I had Kayla decorate some construction paper and we put that on the inside "walls" of the tub so we could always find it. (We had other clear tubs so the artwork helped it stick out.) I could have done the same thing with a box and had her decorate it, but I don't like putting bedding in boxes...it gets that box-y smell...I'm weird about that, I guess.4). At the new location, unpack their room first, or as close to first as you can. Helps with the adjustment, I think.5). Use a completely different colored marking pen for boxes with toys or just general kids stuff. REALLY helps with getting things in the right room and finding stuff.Tony's tip for husbands and wives: Husband, make sure your wife is not around while packing the van. :-) Honestly, I never thought I'd agree with that, but after this last move, I do. The kids and I flew out here ahead of Tony and his brother, who stayed back and packed the U-Haul. I was sure they'd screw something up, something would get broken, etc, etc...but everything turned out fine. Nothing broke, the truck was packed well, and they had fun bonding over the giant task. He also said, "If you don't know what you're doing when packing a U-Haul, then find someone who does and bribe them to help you." Ha!

Packing Day #1
For a week or so I've been thinking about packing. But, yesterday I actually started to do it. I had fun. I took off all the things off the walls and picture frames off of dressers and tables. It looks like I did much more than I actually did, so it feels good. I'm going to go to the knick knacks next. Just getting all that 'clutter' packed up allows my mind to get down to the big stuff.
Life is going at an incredibly fast pace, but we are accomplishing a lot. It worked out great that once Joseph hit his 3 month mark he really settled down in life here on earth and is more independent than he once was. Packing with a baby in a wrap is not the most comfortable thing. Luckily, he's allowed me to put him down and watch me as I pack. I wish I had his job.
I don't know what the deal is with our computer, but I have not been able to upload any pictures, either to blogger or to shutterfly. So, for those of you (mom) who are waiting for our May pictures, I apologize! We're still taking them at a rapid rate, don't fear.
I've got a doctor's appointment and then we're headed to some friend's house for dinner, so I doubt I'll get much packed today.
***If you have any packing tips or how to help a toddler with a move, please leave comments below.

My Cup Runneth Over
With ice cream that is!!!
I do not like hot coffee! I think it tastes so gross. I will drink some fru-fru cold coffee drinks. But, I love me some coffee flavored ice cream. Strange, I know.
In Camp Lejeune, NC on base there was a convenient store that had an ice cream counter in it. They served a Starbuck's flavored ice cream called, Mud Pie. When I was pregnant and laboring with Samuel for the oh, 3 WEEKS, I had to have it ALL. THE. TIME. It was heavenly!
I hadn't had it in 22 months. My wonderful friend, Denise, got it for me at a store in Indianapolis. (Not to be confused with Denise, the wife of Patrick 'The Bishop'. I have two friends Denise and they both go to the same church we do).
We all joked that I might hate it now, because we all know how strange pregnancy cravings are, but let me tell you, It was even better than I had remembered! I can't believe I've gone this long without it. It's amazing how much I love this ice cream. It's such a simple concept, but boy does it make a girl happy!
I have tried to recently make it at home. It was very good, but after tasting the real thing, it does not hold a candle to it. You can go to starbucks.com and see if they carry this ice cream near you. It's very hard to find.
THANKS DENISE SO MUCH! You are such a great friend.
I wish I could figure out a way to get a weekly delivery. But, I suppose it's best for my waistline that I or someone else has to drive over 30 miles to get this ice cream. Why couldn't I be in love with apples?

Prayer of Hannah Blog
I don't know how I've failed to pass this blog onto my other mommy friends, but I just realized it's not in my favorite links section.
The blog, Prayer of Hannah, is an excellent resource blog for Christian mom's. Several mom's post to it and they have different topics each week.
Hope you all enjoy!

From One to Two...HELP!
I have heard that the transition from one kid to two is harder than from none to one or even from two to three and beyond.
I believe it.
The Lord says he will never give us more than we can handle. I have a feeling I'm probably going to be reminding him of that promise more than once over the next few years. There are times I wonder how in the world I'm going to survive two boys, 20 months apart. But, then reality hits. A trillion women have done this before me, I can do it too. But, it's not going to make it any easier if I don't know their secrets. So, I'm asking those of you who have at least two children to dish out your life saving tips. I want it all, the good and the bad.

I thought I had already learned this lesson.
Remember back when I wrote a post about lessons learned, well, apparently I didn't follow my own advice.
I let the garbage fill up to the tippy-top!
Observe the progress made...
He was pushing around the garbage can in the kitchen, opened it up and saw the milk container.
He starts shaking it all around.
Then he decides to test it out and see if there's any left!
I wanted to teach him how to put it back in the trash where it belongs, so I opened up the garbage. He thought I was opening it up so he could lick the rest of the ice cream out of the container.
Silly mommy, thought I'd teach him a lesson!
But, once again, I learned one...
NEVER let the garbage can fill up to the tippy-top!

Who said change was good?
Bottles are bad for babies teeth... blah blah blah blah blah!
Well, so is grinding them! That's something that Samuel is trying out for size, and it seemingly fits for the time being!
So, against both of our wills, we are attempting to transition from bottles to sippy cups, boo! It's not going well.
He only likes a certain few. Which I wouldn't mind if they actually didn't leak, but of course, they do!
I got some awesome ones that fit his little paws perfectly, but more importantly don't leak, even when they find themselves being plunged onto the kitchen floor!
He hates them!
I even got some great suction bowls so he can't launch them across the kitchen. See pictures for how great they work!
TIP: If you find a great deal on a seemingly great product for children, DON'T and I repeat DON'T buy multiples of them! Test one out first to see if they even like it! It'll save you a whole lot of money, and frustration! But, of course if you do only get one, they inevitably will love it! That's life I suppose...
Enjoy some pictures of the Samuel Eckert Escapades this past week!

He's looking for treasures in every drawer he can possibly find. Poor kid, isn't finding much.
Samuel has also realized he can climb! Looks like he's reading for a rocking horse! (Grandma's don't worry... he's hasn't taken a nose dive... yet).

Need motivation!
Andy's mom and stepdad are coming tomorrow and I've lost motivation to continue this long journey of unpacking! Right now the guest bedroom looks more like a closet! Like most, I work well under pressure, so where's my motivation? It left with the last group of empty boxes! Our stereo is not hooked up yet, and Samuel and I were in need of some tunes. Music is always uplifting! So, I thought I would google radio stations around here and see if I could find some good ones. There's a great website that you can type in your zip code and they have radio stations in the area that you can see if they broadcast online. We found a great one, and we're jamming out. So, I have no excuse anymore to be sitting here right...?
