Phasing Out The Pigger

Just a great picture of the two of them before church last Sunday.

Samuel's very first love was unfortunately his pacifier. It still is, but we are working on phasing it out. We've limited it's use to only in his crib for the past couple of months and now we have resorted to clipping the tip of it off little by little. He is growing less and less interested in it by the day. Our point exactly :) It has been going well. We shall see how long it actually takes for it to be gone. He even fell asleep in the car the other day without it, the first time in his life that has happened. We are making progress.

Hospital To Home

We have decided through much prayer, research, interviews with doctors, midwives, nurses, and other women who have had home births, that our very best bet of having the birth we want for Joseph will be to give birth to him outside of a hospital. We will be delivering him in our home with a certified nurse midwife and a certified nurse in attendance. We feel very strongly about this decision and hope that we can answer any questions anyone might have. Please feel free to ask any questions you'd like. We encourage the discussion.

We believe we are making this decision in faith and have been lead to our decision only after much conversation with the Lord.

Due to the fact that so little of you out there are unfamiliar with home births I have decided to start a blog giving resources to help those of you who care to learn more about it and why this issue is so near and dear to our hearts. I do not want to bog down this site with the issue, so I have reserved the other blog specifically for that reason. I will go into much great detail there as to why we feel that giving birth at home is our best option.

We pray that this will be a learning and growing experience for us all.

Tree Hugger

My precious boy has a heart for nature. He loves the outdoors. This is him showing some love to a tree. I just can't get enough of this little guy. Good thing we're having another, since I think he's totally sick of me already. He's told me he's looking around for somewhere else to live. Somewhere where they'll back off and treat him like the big boy that he is :)

Home Sweet First Home

A good friend from Camp Lejeune called yesterday to inform me that due to all of the renovations going on, they are able to move into a home that was just newly renovated. Guess what home she's moving into? Yup, our old home! It was such a wonderful home to live in. I am so excited that a friend will be able to enjoy the home as well. We have so many fond memories there. This is a picture soon after we moved in.

I'm excited to see what it looks like now after the renovations. I heard they enclosed the carport and made it a two car garage and then added a room onto the back. Living in base housing we were very blessed to have this home. Even though it does look like a jail from the outside. Inside it is actually very bright. There is a whole wall of windows on the other side of the home that make up for the absence of windows in the front. Might I ask who in their right mind would come up with this design for a home and look at it and think, wow, what a gorgeous home! A home with no windows in the front... typical military. If you're trying to look at the positive side, it's sure is a safe haven if we were to come under enemy fire from the front. I'm sure that's what they were thinking!

A Quilt For A Princess

Normally, when I make quilts to donate I make them either for boys or make them unisex. Most of my quilting friends lean towards girl quilts since there are so many precious prints out there that lend themselves so easily for a girl, so I try to fill in the gap. I don't mind since I have such a heart for little boys. (Pretty neat that God has already blessed me with two). I could not resist when I saw the flower prints in this quilt, though. I just had to bring them together in a quilt. I had a vision and it just had to come to fruition. So, after about a year of the fabrics sitting there in a pile, they are now a quilt. I pray this quilt will warm some little girl out in the NC area.


Now, that my quilts to give away are all done (for now), I have turned my attention to Christmas and would like to try some quilting out as gifts. I've received one request for place mats, which I think is a great idea. Does anyone have any other ideas?
