Yes, we are still alive. We have been keeping quite busy and trying to utilize every last minute to check off as many things on our lists as possible before Joseph arrives. We're making lots of progress. The diapers and clothes are all washed and ready. The birthing supplies are ready and just waiting to be used! Samuel is starting to understand more and more about what is going on. It's been so neat to see him through this journey. And we especially could not be more excited for his arrival. At this time during my pregnancy with Samuel, Andy left for his deployment. It's such a blessing to have him here for the entire pregnancy, but especially the birth. We are both feeling very ready for this birth and have enjoyed so much preparing together. It's amazing how different I feel going into this birth than Samuel's. It's a much more enjoyable time. Bringing a child into the world is of course exciting, especially your first, but when your husband isn't there to experience all that you are going through, it just makes for less than ideal circumstances. No need to worry about all of that for this birth!
On the Samuel front, he seems to be growing up by the hour. His vocabulary is growing every day. It is so neat to see him form words and to get so excited when we can understand what he is saying. I thought we were out of the woods with having him get attached to some sort of blanket or toy or stuffed animal. But he shocked us all and is now obsessed with his camouflage blanket. He has to have it with him in his crib and he takes it out with him each time. He now loves to walk around with it on his head and bump into furniture. And don't forget the infamous game of "Where's Samuel?"
We've got the blanket obsession and also the added obsessions of balls, balloons and bubbles. I can confidently say he's obsessed with 'B' things. Wonder what it will be next week?
