Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6One things we've been trying lately is focusing on rewarding good behavior instead of bad behavior. We still discipline for bad behavior, but we are making much more of an effort to reward the good behavior.
It seems to be working.
The boys both have a sticker chart and they will get a sticker when they demonstrate a character trait that we are trying to instill in them.
They would get a very small, non purchased item at the end of each row and then when they finished their whole chart they could go out for ice cream.
Ice cream to these kids is why life exists.
Joseph hasn't filled his chart up yet, but he of course wants to go get ice cream too.
What reward systems seem to work for your family? I'd love to know.

None of our reward charts seem to last for more than two days. I love the thought of them, but the execution for us is never quite there. I'm sure the kids would definitely be on board, but I always get distracted and tend to forget.
Although, we are starting an weekly allowance and have been tracking small chores that the children do throughout the week. The nice thing about 5.5-years old, is if we forget to reward them, they remind us!!
Best wishes to you on the upcoming arrival of baby Annabelle. How wonderfully exciting! :)
Hi Amy! We love sticker charts too :-) Seeing yours inspired me to re-instate them. We haven't used them in a while. Where did you get the one that Samuel is holding up?
We got that one at Staples :) I can give you some if you'd like. They come in a big package.
